We've used the quiet and guest free time to rebuild the hostel. With a lot of love, visiting numerous antique shops, exploring grandma's screed and grinding and drilling we are proud to present you the hostel in even more beautiful splendor.
We now offer three private double rooms in addition to the classic shared rooms.

Located in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Jungfrau region, our Mountain Hostel Gimmelwald is simply love at first sight!
We are the perfect base for your outdoor activities or just a great place to enjoy the mountainwonderland and relax. On the top of this, we pamper you this summer season with concerts from swiss musicians. We promise you will meet your new favourite band at our hostel this summer!
Buzzing with travellers from around the world and meeting the locals. It is quite common to come here for a day and stay for weeks!
El Ritschi Concert

Future Relic Concert

Our next guests will be Future Relic. The mix of sentimental almost psychedelic ballads on the one hand side and edgy guitar riffs on the other hand makes their music compelling.

Al Berto & The Fried Bikinis Concert

On Saturday, 31 of August 2019 Al-Berto & the Fried Bikinis will be our guests. Al-Berto travels, surfs and climbs around the world, so his music is for those who travel and for those who stay.

New Era at Mountainhostel
"Dear friends and family of the mountainhostel. As some of you might know, the "Queen of Paradise" (aka Petra) is going to her well deserved retirement after 25 years of leading the hostel with heart and soul.
As she was looking for somebody to take over the place, take care of it and love it as much as she does, our paths crossed. I am in love with the mountainhostel as much as you all are, so when in January she asked me to be her successor, there was no question about it.
Together with some amazing people, we've used the lockdown situation to renovate the hostel and make it an even cozier and comfier place to hang out after your hikes and enjoy your time up here in Gimmelwald.
Many ideas are becoming reality now, please let me know if there is anything you would suggest to change or if there is something you were always missing at the hostel.
Having been a full-time traveler for a couple of years hopefully taught me how to lead the hostel in a way of making you feel right at home.
I'm looking foward to meet you all in person up here in Gimmelwald. In the meantime, stay healthy, stay adventurous and keep up the good spirit.
